FINNIE DISAPPOINTED BY COUNCILS DECISION ON KILMARDINNY

West of Scotland MSP Ross Finnie is disappointed by the decision of East Dunbartonshire Council's Labour-Tory Administration to approve the controversial Kilmardinny Development.

At a meeting of East Dunbartonshire Council, Labour and Tory Councillors voted to agree the same deal with developers CALA Management and Stewart Milne Holding which the Council had previously opposed. Liberal Democrat and SNP Councillors voted for an amendment to refuse the deal.

Commenting Mr Finnie said:

"I am disappointed that the Labour-Tory Administration has backtracked and approved this highly controversial deal. It would be interesting to know what new evidence the Labour and Tory Administration now has for supporting a deal they previously rejected.

"The Liberal Democrats have been opposed to this deal from the beginning supported by the overwhelming majority of public opinion. The original decision of the Council to reject the application was overturned by the Appeals Reporter but that is no reason for the Administration to cave in to the developer and abandon the local residents"
