BOARD MEMBERS CONCERNS MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY-FINNIE

Written by Ross Finnie on Thu 4th Feb 2010

West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie has demanded the Health Secretary investigate claims made by John Bannon MBE over the Blawarthill redevelopment.

In a letter to Nicola Sturgeon, John Bannon MBE, a non-executive board member of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has claimed board members have not been made aware of key aspects of the decisions made concerning the future of Blawarthill Hospital which would lead to the proposed closure of beds at St Margaret's Hospice.

Commenting Mr Finnie said:

"The Cabinet Secretary must take the concerns of the board member seriously and discover if there is any truth to these claims.

"In my opinion the redevelopment of Blawarthill has been flawed from the beginning, so I was very concerned to read reports that board members were not informed of key decisions.

"The Health Secretary must contact the Board immediately demanding a full explanation."
