FINNIE: LIBERAL DEMOCRATS WELCOME TOBACCO PROVISIONS

Written by Ross Finnie on Wed 27th Jan 2010

Commenting after the Tobacco and Primary Medical Services (Scotland) Bill was passed by the Scottish Parliament, Liberal Democrat Health spokesman Ross Finnie said:

"This Bill is a robust piece of legislation which brings the licensing of tobacco in line with that of alcohol.

"I am glad that those who buy cigarettes for under-18s will now be treated in the same way as those who buy alcohol for under-18s.

"The ban on cigarette vending machines is another important measure to stop young people getting hold of cigarettes."

Ends.
