LEAGUE OF FRIENDS STILL AWAITING ANSWER- FINNIE

Written by Ross Finnie on Wed 27th Jan 2010

West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie has questioned why the League of Hospital Friends is still waiting to hear about the decision on its future.

In answers to Parliamentary Questions in December The Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing (Nicola Sturgeon) said: The Aroma cafe pilot was evaluated in October and a report is currently being drafted for consideration by the project board. NHS National Services Scotland will then be provided with a recommendation from the project board. A decision on whether to make the Aroma concept available as a choice to NHS Scotland is expected to be taken in January.

Commenting Mr Finnie said:

"The League of Hospital Friends has been under threat of eviction since April last year and are still waiting on an answer concerning its long term future.

"The Health Secretary promised an answer by January and as we enter into the last week in January we still await that answer.

"NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde must admit it was wrong to threaten the League of Friends with eviction and end this ridiculous notion of replacing it with an aroma café."
