West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie has pledged his support to the Samaritans Stress Down Day Campaign.
Samaritans the leading emotional health charity held a reception in the Scottish Parliament yesterday (Wednesday 4th February) to raise awareness of the issues surrounding stress in the work place. Organisations throughout the UK will be participating in Stress Down Day where they will be fundraising for Samaritans on the day as well as running "de-stressing" activities such as allowing employees to wear their slippers to work.
"Stress in the work place has become far too common in the West of Scotland, so I am in full support of the Samaritans efforts to alleviate stress, with there Stress Down Day.
"In these tough economic times, it is easy to see how people are becoming more stressed with work, pay and pension worries playing on there minds.
"Employers have to be made aware of the detrimental effect stress can have on a workforce and I would like to encourage all employers in the West of Scotland to take part in Stress Down Day."
