West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie has welcomed plans to continue with the redevelopment of Lennox Castle in East Dunbartonshire after a fire caused extensive damage.
On Monday a blaze ravaged the A listed building, but property developers Daniel Platt and Richard Pollock are still confident that they can continue with there plans to put 32 apartments in the castle and 24 houses on the 10 acres of land nearby.
"I was shocked on Monday to see the images of Lennox castle a blaze. It is disappointing that some mindless thugs would attempt to destroy this beautiful building.
"I am very pleased that the property developers are still confident that the castle can be saved. As it would be devastating to lose this landmark building especially when it looked as though it was just about to be restored to its place as one of the communities most spectacular structures.
