FINNIE DISAPPOINTED AT PLANS TO CLOSE NURSERY

West of Scotland Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie is

disappointed by the plans to close Rainbow nursery in

Shortroods. The nursery currently provides a source of

affordable childcare to parents on low incomes, which gives

many the opportunity to get back into employment.

Commenting on the plans Mr Finnie Said:

"I am disappointed by the plans to close Rainbow nursery due to

a funding crisis. This is an excellent facility that offers

affordable childcare to low income families and the closure of

the nursery will have an extremely detrimental affect on many

families' lives.

"The closure of the nursery will also result in redundancies to

a number of hard working staff at the nursery.

"I believe that the closure of Rainbow nursery can be seen as

the first example of the tight financial settlement provided by

the SNP and Conservatives at Holyrood leading to local

authorities being forced to make unwanted cuts in education.
